London and Maddie Train for the Olympics at Randolph Gymnastics in Randolph, New Jersey

I first learned about Randolph Gymnastics in Randolph, New Jersey, back in the Fall of 2004 when London and Maddie were pre-schoolers, invited to a different Westmont Montessori classmate’s birthday party almost every weekend.  As you can see from the photo on the right, the facilities are huge and conjure up visions of Olympic training and made-for-TV movies about child gymnastic prodigies. The Little Gym and the West Morris YMCA, both “down the road” in Randolph, NJ, don’t even come close.

After attending a few birthday parties at Randolph Gymnastics, the girls started begging for lessons, and began their Olympic training with Wednesday morning pre-school classes in the Winter of 2005. While their mom can’t turn a cartwheel if life depended on it (aren’t we lucky we’re not tested that way?), London has progressed to Novice II classes and can do a back handspring on a trampoline. Younger sister Maddie remains in Novice I for the foreseeable future, but still has a blast getting out there somersaulting and working on the balance beam.

With classes for all ages and abilities, as well as private lessons for serious gymnasts, Randolph Gymnastics is located at 3 Middlebury Boulevard in Randolph, New Jersey. Phone: (973) 584-4111. If you have an interest, make the call soon, as the most convenient classes fill up rapidly.
